Our metal snare drums are designed with the same concepts as the rest of the INDe product line- light, thin shells designed for maximum shell resonance, and outfitted with low mass hardware for the ultimate open tone!
The flanged edges are a critical design element in our shells- the bend makes the shells far stiffer in the circumference, allowing us to use much thinner metal. The thinner the shell, the less energy it takes to make it resonate!
Straight wall (no bead)
A lot of metal shells on the market utilize one or more beads rolled into the shell profile. The bead stiffens the shell raising the pitch), but not where it’s needed (at the edges). By not adding a bead, our shells have a lower fundamental pitch, for a much fatter and clearer sound.
