Our metal snare drums are designed with the same concepts as the rest of the INDe product line- light, thin shells designed for maximum shell resonance, and outfitted with low mass hardware for the ultimate open tone!

Flanged Edges

The flanged edges are a critical design element in our shells- the bend makes the shells far stiffer in the circumference, allowing us to use much thinner metal. The thinner the shell, the less energy it takes to make it resonate!

Straight wall (no bead)

A lot of metal shells on the market utilize one or more beads rolled into the shell profile. The bead stiffens the shell raising the pitch), but not where it’s needed (at the edges). By not adding a bead, our shells have a lower fundamental pitch, for a much fatter and clearer sound.

Brass, Aluminum, or Stainless Steel?

Different metals have different acoustic properties- we chose our standard three metals to give a huge array of sound options. This video compares all three:

Aluminum: Controlled sound with strong midrange “Pop”

sTAINLESS sTEEL: STRONG HIGHS AND MIDS, GREAT PROJECTION

bRASS: bALANCED FULL TONE, BRIGHT RING WITH SOLID LOWS AND MIDS
